Levelling the Playing Field has produced a set of posters for our partners which promote the positive impact of the project on children, families and communities.
The range of posters features four 'regionalised' designs showing our specialist partners delivering sport and physical activity in London, the West Midlands, Gwent and South Yorkshire, and one poster promoting the project as a whole. Please see below for the hi-res PDFs which you can download and display.
The posters represent a new emphasis on positive promotion of specialist staff delivering the project.
Previously, we have used the phrase "You can't be what you can't see" to explain the importance of visible community role models who ethnically diverse children can emulate. Now, we want to shift this emphasis slightly to "You can be what you can see".
It's a subtle change to a ‘strengths-based approach’, reinforcing the understanding that our specialist partners provide critical safe and supportive activity and create positive social connections in their community.
We want to stop using 'deficit' language, terms or acronyms (describing young people as 'hard to reach', for example). We do not see, hear or feel a deficit in our delivery areas. From our partnerships, community representatives, families, young people and children, we receive only positive and feedback about the inclusive services provided by Levelling the Playing Field's Specialist Delivery Organisations.
If your organisation is invested in the proactive and prosocial representation of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (E.D.I), please download the posters to display in reception areas, staff rooms, learning spaces and wherever positive activity takes place. We are also developing further resources to aid this and will ensure this is promoted through the Levelling the Playing Field newsletter.
Levelling the Playing Field Project Manager Justin Coleman said: "We want to make 'You Can Be What You Can See' a cornerstone of Levelling the Playing Field. We feel it accentuates the strengths of the positive activity we see, hear and feel happening in all ethnically diverse communities across our LtPF delivery areas.”
